Stage Three of the Free Guide
How to Build Small Business Credit with No Personal Guarantee
Step 7 ~ Dunn & Bradstreet Problems
Dunn & Bradstreet (D&B) is by far the most difficult organization that causes small business owners the most headaches when building corporate business credit. To help alleviate a few possible headaches, please take into account the following:
- If you check your credit file more than once every two weeks, it will either raise red flags or it will prompt endless sales calls.
- Commission hungry sales reps will red flag your file if you say something wrong, yell at them or completely ignore their calls.
- Answer all of their calls, but be prepared with a little song and dance such as, “The person who manages that account is traveling, please try back next week” or “It’s not in my budget now, but perhaps in another 3-6 months”.
- The D&B reps frequently have spelling mistakes and to have success it must be corrected before applying for business credit.
- Do not go on application sprees, inquiries set off alarms with D&B and your file will be sent to early fraud detection with irregular inquiry patterns. This will cause your file to be invisible when lenders pull your business credit file even if you have it well established.
As long as you understand each of these points it will be much easier as you continue building corporate business credit.
