How to Build Small Business Credit with No Personal Guarantee
Step 6 ~ Dunn & Bradstreet Disputing
There will come a time when you must dispute something on your Dunn & Bradstreet (D&B) business credit file. As we already discussed, D&B regularly adds negative information to your business credit file in order to open the doors to solicit their products. There will also be times when you make a late payment and would like to have it removed from your business credit file. Whatever the case, it is important to understand a few things about disputing any negative information on your business credit file.
First is to become very comfortable calling the Entities Department as they are the only non-sales oriented department within D&B. You might be asking yourself, “How do I get the number?” Well, we are kind enough to provide you the last known number so write it down; it is 866-834-4699. Every time you speak with someone ask for a direct phone number to gather as many as possible in case they change.
The second thing to understand about disputing your D&B business credit file is that the only action that will be taken with a dispute is deletion. Once deleted, the account will likely never report again so you would be losing a valuable tradeline. Tip: If the account is a high reporting credit line account it is more beneficial to have it reporting negatively, than not at all.
